3-3 2013 Building Art

One of the joys of traveling to different cities and countries is soaking in the local culture.  Each location has its nuances which provide context and knowledge that can be brought to bear at a moments notice.

Early last year I was wandering the streets of Amsterdam in the rain when I came across an intricate mural painted on the side of a building. The mural was a homage to Mystery Science Theater 3000. After snapping a photo and despite the rain, the combination of size, precision and the touch of fancy caused me to stop and soak up the ambiance. It was hard to take in the scene and not picture the passion of the artist when he or she created the mural.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could bottle and share passion? While passion isn’t an attribute that can be manufactured or mandated, it is easier to acquire when you have your eyes open and are interested in the world around you. Motivation, innovation and creativity are all inexorably linked to passion. Don’t let a little rain keep you exploring the world!
